Ratings & Reviews

  1. Dan Kenneth Gigernes's rating of the film Captain Horatio Hornblower R.N.

A glossy sailing experience with excellent sea battles. Gregory Peck grows into the role after a while as the title hero, but this film shouldn't have tried to cram three stories into one.

  2. FISCHER's rating of the film Captain Horatio Hornblower R.N.

Un excellent film d'aventures, haut en couleur et en bravoure, bénéficiant d'une somptueuse photographie et de l'interprétation sans faute et sans faille de l'incomparable Grégory Peck, décidément en verve... www.cinefiches.com

  3. Ethan's rating of the film Captain Horatio Hornblower R.N.

This is a nice little nautical adventure. Another great performance from Gregory Peck as a ship captain. This would make a great double bill with Moby Dick.

  4. José Neves's rating of the film Captain Horatio Hornblower R.N.

    Cinematography by Guy Green.

  5. tiagovitoria's rating of the film Captain Horatio Hornblower R.N.

Raoul Walsh in not your average director. Captain Horatio Hornblower R.N should deserve more recognition, it's a thrilling and breath taking history in which I think it might be one of the biggest battleships movies of all time. What makes the film big is the way Virginia Mayo changes the whole plot. It's brilliant how Walsh can be good and efficient in portraying a love story throughout a bunch of war environments.
