The mention of "God". It's unfair that people jump the gun and think it isn't worth their time. It has some fairly good performances despite that type of drama. I do feel that they should have just left out the last bit. It wasn't necessary with all the preach. All that people needed to hear are good words. Encouraging words. Because everybody needs that.
Less a faith-based film that sermonizes to you as if you're a sinner from the pits of Hell and more a human drama about two souls both scraping the bottom of the barrel and eventually seeking redemption. A bit too low-energy and lacking in tension to click as well as it needs to, but this is a satisfying drama that trades sermonizing for humanizing. I promise you David Oyelowo will get an Oscar in the next ten years.
