  1. Dan Kenneth Gigernes's rating of the film Cat People

Sexy as hell - as you get two of the loveliest actresses from early 1980s at their most gorgeous. A great New Orleans atmosphere too and the "big cats" are phenomenal to watch. The gore is less interesting than the erotic nature of the film which really get out the full "animal nature" from the cast. Big plus for David Bowie title song at the end too.

  3. riraru's rating of the film Cat People

Normalerweise ist das nicht mein Genre, aber die Idee hat Charme und die Umsetzung gefällt mir sehr, wie auch die Musik von Moroder und Bowie.

  4. David Sindmark Hörnfeldt's rating of the film Cat People

My journey went something like this: 1) Is this about how scary female sexuality is? 2) I think this movie is about how scary female sexuality is. 3) This movie is about how scary female sexuality is!

  5. Peter Walsh's rating of the film Cat People

Something so ridiculous as to almost, just almost, be brilliant.

  6. Sthirabandhu's rating of the film Cat People

such great ingredients, Paul Schrader directs two fine male leads with two fine female leads but it never quite delivers, rather wooden performances and Miss Kinski's nude scene do nothing to take this film anywhere. Moroders soundtrack sounds limp and well '80's ..... best bit has always been Bowies Great theme tune ...... see these eyes so green, I could stare for a 1000 years ......

  8. Zanna Walsh's rating of the film Cat People

It certainly evokes a certain feel, the music, New Orleons, the time. Beautiful, mesmerizing Nastassia, with a patchy performance, but who cares. Although her clothing has to be the dullest I've ever seen. Enjoyable with a beer.

  9. jacqueslefataliste's rating of the film Cat People

Un remake intéressant du film de Tourneur. Pas tout à fait aussi convaincant que son modèle, mais avec de bonnes choses.

  10. Yvonx S's rating of the film Cat People

For its time Cat People snarled it's glossy head above the average 'Vamp Transforming' thriller. I'd forgotten it had a backing track and music by his Highness Bowie, so that's a bonus!Lose yourself in earthy, natural and unnatural, wildness, beautiful bodies, and a face the camera adores in this throat- ripping yarn. Not forgetting the sublime panthers; splendidly captured in their otherworldly shadow beauty.

  11. Ramzi's rating of the film Cat People

Very good film where the weirdness is anchored well by John Heard and Annette O'Toole. Great lead performance. A pity the song is just tacked on to the end, but at least Tarantino later found a use for it.

  12. Julie Portier's rating of the film Cat People

At least the scenario get Kinsky naked

  13. Dada Kubin's rating of the film Cat People

The whole aesthetic style of the (early) 80s seems to be summarised in Cat People. Those strong colour lights, eroticism, exotism, music video feel. It should be a masterpiece, I’d so much want it to be perfect but the storytelling, acting, the set-up, it’s all a bit too accentuated, too conscious of itself trying to be something special. Perhaps a couple of more decades and it will be ripened into what it could be.

  14. Adam Whybray's rating of the film Cat People

2.4 stars. Brought me back to sneaking downstairs to watch late night television as a young teenager. Like softcore the film exists in some mesmeric non-place. I never felt that I was being shown a world which could be lived in. This gives the film an airless quality, heightened by Moroder's plaintive synths, which substitutes for a more through-going existential angst. The last twenty minutes however are excellent.

  16. Nicolas Pierce's rating of the film Cat People

This is a lot of fun, especially Malcolm McDowell.

  17. Patrick Hoffman's rating of the film Cat People

Pas mal ce film mais les sous-titrages sont assez ratés, faits à la va-vite. Assez stressant quand on les voit. A améliorer...

  18. DenoResandono's rating of the film Cat People

I'm still confused - whether this movie is a remake or reboot of the 1942's version. Paul Schrader is able to expand the idea of the original version. It accomplished few things that the original version couldn't achieved: Tell the story more explicit. Actually, CAT PEOPLE is a movie about sexual problems. Schrader's version could show everything easily because now the censorship isn't too strict. It's underrated...

  19. catweinz@gmail.com's rating of the film Cat People

  20. Victor Gonzalez's rating of the film Cat People

Paul Schrader playing with horror. Apart from que qualities of the film I was shocked to see that the Amtrak trains have not changed since the 80s...

  21. Bilouaustria's rating of the film Cat People

Soooo 80´s ! But even with a nice atmosphere and a great soundtrack, it is pretty bad. I love to watch New Orleans in films but here you can simply forget the original from Tourneur. Schrader made a kind of bad Carpenter movie but he got clever enough with the casting. The script is absolutely terrible (God he used to write "Taxi Driver") but it is somehow fun that someone would do this film anyway...

  22. babycakesromero's rating of the film Cat People

80s erotic thriller b movie - whats not to like? schrader made a true original. did the mubi double bill with blue collar. hugely enjoyable.

  24. Roberta staples's rating of the film Cat People

Presumably there is indeed some horrible humour intended at the end in the heroine being confined in a tiny cage and being fed handfuls of meat by her former lover, and that she considers this as being back among her own kind - all of whom are kept separately in likewise tiny cages.
