Ratings & Reviews

  1. dalena's rating of the film Catch Me Daddy

complexities are blanketed over and stylized to fit a modern tempo. the story hides behind the unfamiliar social customs by the average viewer and tricks us into believing something compelling is happening.

  2. Marina C.'s rating of the film Catch Me Daddy

Sameena Ahmed does such a breathtaking performance - for me, she is what makes this film so palpably real and tense, to the very last moment. The open ending leaves you hanging in the dark for the minute or two before you see the credits rolling. And "Land" playing, as they danced in a brief moment of innocence, foreshadowing the horror through Patti Smith's lyrics.

  3. DSPRKY's rating of the film Catch Me Daddy

All terribly unsubtle and yet uninsightful.

  4. Axel's rating of the film Catch Me Daddy

This world can be a very cruel place. And the ending...so unforgiving.

  5. Miggy Angel's rating of the film Catch Me Daddy

  6. peaches and plums's rating of the film Catch Me Daddy

no one alarmed abt that guy pissing on his hand??

  7. captainfez's rating of the film Catch Me Daddy

Grim as fuck, this ends about as well as you'd expect.

  8. Maarten Baars's rating of the film Catch Me Daddy

Truly gripping film. The Daniels don't give all the answers. Some words said by the characters partly lift the veil, but the mystery is what makes this film so tense. Some may find the questions the conclusion leaves untouched should've been answered. But when you think about it, it's a conclusion with more answers than the eye alone can see.

  9. Renton47's rating of the film Catch Me Daddy

Initially threatening its stoned stupor with a violence that feels justified by the juxtapose of style and miserabilism, it then takes a little adjusting to register this as a tense as hell chase film. And then again as a punishing drama that wants commentary and genre. Reminds me of films I liked as a teen like 'London to Brighton' but I'm out of the market. Stylish, but cheap subject + pay-off, no takeaways.

  10. James Wilson's rating of the film Catch Me Daddy

Great movie. Started a bit slow.

  11. Magic Lantern Alison's rating of the film Catch Me Daddy

Oof. Great tone, really beautiful, builds slowly to the most intense climax.

  12. Michael Zyx MH Claes's rating of the film Catch Me Daddy

More ROMEO & JULIET than SAILOR & LULA. The young couple AARON & LAILA must run their deadly race. Neo-noir true thriller, awsome sound track & music score. Dark & desperate. Will haunt many.

  13. SafeStanding's rating of the film Catch Me Daddy

Depressed beyond tablets viewing this dire fare. Can't find a positive for the life of me. Bleak and pointless. Just felt I hated every character in it.

  14. Ana Sousa's rating of the film Catch Me Daddy

My expectations were too high. I love the title though.

  15. Thomas's rating of the film Catch Me Daddy

Bleak, but not much else unfortunately.

  16. Gabriele Mariotti's rating of the film Catch Me Daddy

From a promising director, but then....

  17. J. O.'s rating of the film Catch Me Daddy

A far cry from the "modern Western" the filmmakers pompously describe, but it was not wholly disappointing. The cinematography was the high point, and the original score was haunting. Performances were great, Gary and Barry in particular, while most characters were so reprehensible you didn't care an iota whether they lived or died. Stark and bleak, without compassion - a hip, juvenile take on a serious issue.

  18. Carlos Filipe Freitas's rating of the film Catch Me Daddy

It won’t be a good option for the fans of mainstream cinema, and only the more optimistic ones will find a tiny margin for hope here. (3.5 stars)

  19. dave gunn's rating of the film Catch Me Daddy

This thriller is given an artistic treatment, with a palate of pastels that contrast with the darkness of the story's bleak mood. Sameena Jabeen Ahmed absolutely nails her role as a young woman on the worst, potentially last, night of her life.

  20. Giles J Davis's rating of the film Catch Me Daddy

Nothing good came of this film. Scaremongering Daily Mail readers & glorifying Patti Smith to a girl who culturally (be it Pakistani or English) wouldn't AT ALL be listening to her. Bleakly depicting the north of England with a Dazed & Confused mag filter worked (although too much in vogue) but the film, if you're accustomed to UK exploitation cinema was predictable & arched towards Shane Meadows' territory. Nasty. D

  21. saitosouta's rating of the film Catch Me Daddy

  22. Charlotte Tillieux's rating of the film Catch Me Daddy

With a little help by Patti Smith and Tim Buckley.

  23. stilladvance's rating of the film Catch Me Daddy

Some good, if derivative UK social realism photography, and good performances by daughter and father. It's technically skilled, with a good grasp of fugitive thriller forms, but rams in a simple, exploitative storyline about honour killings that though compelling in its awfulness, is also without any compassion or understanding, and basically caters to every prejudice in the wider culture about Asian men.

  24. DanOffen's rating of the film Catch Me Daddy

Solidly made film. Wonderfully scottish. I think something was maybe missing in it for me though, too airy and floaty without enough bite.
