  1. José Neves's rating of the film Catherine de Heilbronn

From an extraordinary play by Kleist, Rohmer with some of his usual actors builds a hybrid between an idea of a great historical spectacle and a smaller romantic intrigue, almost domestic, despite the immense density of the writer's words. To play between these assumptions, insisting on something of a cinematic dimension, namely in the flashback and oneirism moments, is something very much appreciable.
