Ratings & Reviews

  1. Jugu Abraham's rating of the film Cathy Come Home

Well made film by Loach before teaming up with Laverty. The lead players are superb. Carol White resembles Julie Christie. Ray Brooks is above average. But Loach is the real hero behind the camera.

  2. FISCHER's rating of the film Cathy Come Home

Moyen métrage britannique, tourné à l'origine pour la BBC, dans la série : "The wednesday play" ... Excellent ! www.cinefiches.com

  3. Blue Roses's rating of the film Cathy Come Home

  4. smndvdcl's rating of the film Cathy Come Home

Polemical brilliance from one of the best Leftist subversive auteurs in cinema history.

  5. Tiphaine Tatin de Lattre's rating of the film Cathy Come Home

A must-see. I lost my shit pretty quick: nothing has changed in the UK since then. Slum landlords and sublets are a part of everyday when you're poor in the UK. Only a few cosmetic changes here and there: the housing crisis is worse than ever and the food banks are overwhelmed and struggle to provide every person with food. Fucking Thatcher, fucking Cameron!

  6. Illusion Travels By Streetcar's rating of the film Cathy Come Home

"American media just cannot contain such messages." http://illusionpodcast.blogspot.com/2014/12/episode-39-wednesday-plays-of-ken-loach.html

  7. Samuel T.'s rating of the film Cathy Come Home

A so-called mockumentary, and one of the most powerful, considering it deals with radical issues of homelessness and poverty in Britain, understated and overlooked at the time the film was created. Super fast cuts, beautiful super gritty film. Brief voiceovers of other stories intertwine with this one, a family on a helpless downward spiral to rock bottom. Agonizing.

  8. Diarmuid's rating of the film Cathy Come Home

Loses none of it's impact even after all these years - maybe it's more relevant in these times than ever. The final scenes are absolutely devastating.
