  1. msmichel's rating of the film Century of Birthing - Part Five

By the end of Diaz's epic 6 hour length take on filmmaking, fundamentalism, creation, artistic integrity and madness the viewer has had an abundance of time to reflect on the strengths and weaknesses of Diaz's approach to aesthetic cinema. The film is full of masterful moments but often is overcome by the excesses and over indulgences of Diaz In the end the strands are brought together in the quest for fulfillment.

  2. slaepwerigne's rating of the film Century of Birthing - Part Five

the final 45 minutes of this are, for me, the strongest proof yet of what homer says near the beginning in his interview; that cinema has long since transcended the moving image.

  3. Checkpoint Charlie's rating of the film Century of Birthing - Part Five

My first experience with Lav Diaz's work, and at first glance it'd be easy to proclaim it being much like Bela Tarr covering Richard Linklater material, though this would be a simplistic identification as this picture is much more in itself. However, it'll take some time for the greater ideas to sink in for me, as I'm still piecing together the possibilities of the picture in my mind.
