Magnificent doc made from a treasury of home movies filmed on kibbutzim from 1935-1960s, telling the story of growing up in the unique, experimental communist collective. No sit-down interviews; the adult children narrate the footage telling the story from the deepest recesses of their hearts-the pain of giving up their children to the collective, barely knowing their own parents, mixed w their love for the kibbutz.
Fantastic chronicle of the Kibbutz system from its beginning to its demise, told through interviews and archival footage. In the darkness of the movie theatre, I watched my father gasp as he saw a shot of his long dead childhood friend come up on the screen. One of my favourite documentaries of all time.
