Underrated, if not exactly good, but it's much funner and funnier than the stale first sequel. With a military academy setting that makes for some amusing set pieces as well as clever jokes and one-liners, Child's Play 3 is a good stepping stone from the more serious first two films into the smirky, slasher-infused dark-comedy that started with Bride of Chucky and went into Seed of Chucky. A fun if standard effort.
Cool opening credits and an entertaining finale in the haunted house bookend an otherwise dull sequel. This is the 90s after all. Stale tends to go with the horror genre at this time, its lower point in history. Considering this was released 9 months after Part 2 came out, it could have been a lot worse.
Interesting change of atmosphere going to a military camp but with the exception of Andrew Robinson hamming it up as a barber this film there is nothing good about it. A dreadful script and boring direction and Chucky can suddenly transfer himself into other bodies at will? Then how come he continue to live as a doll and absolutely needed the body of the boy in the two first ones?
