Beneath the streets of New York City are hundreds of miles of tunnels unfit for anything human, but now, something horrible is loose in the sewers of Manhattan. The city’s homeless population is mutating.

2 1/2 out of 5 stars. C.H.U.D. is some fun stuff with a decent cast, but its less than stellar execution. The creatures were pretty cool and I loved the score. Didn't love it or hate it. While I wouldn't exactly call it essential cheese I don't regret watching it.
Appealingly atmospheric in a Carpenter-esque sort of way. Not since Street Trash has NYC looked so grimy. The film sells its knee-jerk cynicism and pointless character moments with some fine acting (particularly Heard and Stern) and a dark, moody synth score, but this movie is one or two C.H.U.D. attacks away from truly working as a horror film. Makes a nice double feature with Dark Days, though.
