Appealingly atmospheric in a Carpenter-esque sort of way. Not since Street Trash has NYC looked so grimy. The film sells its knee-jerk cynicism and pointless character moments with some fine acting (particularly Heard and Stern) and a dark, moody synth score, but this movie is one or two C.H.U.D. attacks away from truly working as a horror film. Makes a nice double feature with Dark Days, though.
