    Though the Marxist tablature of the post 60’s is used to insure its messages, it goes down easily with little of the cant or caricature of similarly-themed films of the era. Nor does it date in some sour rancor of past illumination now seen as bordering on the ridiculous, as can happen when a 35 year old political snapshot is viewed in light of contemporary myopia. It’s a perennial film of identity and ideas.
