Cléo & Paul

Allons enfants

Directed by Stéphane Demoustier
France, 2018

Three-and-a-half-year-old Cléo is brilliant at hide-and-seek: her brother Paul and their nanny have no chance of finding her. At some point Paul also discovers what Paris is like when one is out and about without any adults.

  • Jason's rating of the film Cléo & Paul

I have had a chance to look at ALLONS ENFANTS twice, the second time w/ an audience. It is a film for which I have immense affection. It is concept(s) executed w/ panache in urban space. It was of course Marcel Carné who asked when the cinema would go down in the streets, and the French have a legacy of finding ways to do so fortuitously. Demoustier's little Academy ratio masterpiece is an exemplar.
