Ratings & Reviews

  1. dionysus67's rating of the film Close My Eyes

A potentially interesting theme receives a conventional treatment, which though is not uninteresting. The film resorts to the incestuous relationship as an index of a wider social dislocation in the UK; yet the latter dimension is peripheral and cinematically uninvolving as the film focuses on the trio whose 'reconciliation' comes about with rather clumsy dramatic peaks. Not unwatchable but rather weak.

  2. Richmond Hill's rating of the film Close My Eyes

Coldly self-satisfied coda on rather uninteresting characters caught in an even less interesting incestuous situation. The limply critical allusions to the changing social landscape of Great Britain in the 1980s add little by way of context.

  3. Andre A. Neves's rating of the film Close My Eyes

If there is one film "Jonathan Rosenbaum's 1000 Essential Films" you want to miss, it can be this one. The slight absurdity of it all reminds me of "Bitter Moon".
