Ratings & Reviews

  1. Diderot's rating of the film Comanche Station

When the western hero becomes an existential archetype and the genre enters a new phase. This is the last in a series of Boetticher-Scott collaborations that serve as a major reference-point for this transition. Some are tempted to see in them a recapitulation of the whole genre, ending once again with this version of Ford's The Searchers. That might give them too much credit.

  2. JonMB's rating of the film Comanche Station

The depiction of the Comanche Indians leaves a lot to be desired. The Indians MO always seems to be "Let's ride around in circles and get shot at until we are all dead." WTF. Otherwise, ok. The ending is a strange twist to the way the plot was set up.

  3. Nelson Núñez's rating of the film Comanche Station

  4. Kentel's rating of the film Comanche Station

As short as it is good. Awesome landscapes, splendid shootings, Randolph Scott great as always, screenplay wonderful: a must-see.

  5. Sean Keeley's rating of the film Comanche Station

This is like The Searchers in miniature, and that last reaction shot as Cody watches Nancy reunite with her husband is as heartbreaking and haunting as the ending to Ford's film. It's amazing how much depth and feeling Boetticher could pack into these little B Westerns.

  6. Eliecer's rating of the film Comanche Station

Exemplary minimalist western. The finale stays with you long after the screen fades
