What may have worked better as a darker and bleaker thriller/horror film is instead given an over-the-top, mainstream influenced action mentality. The opening scene is quite good in terms of that, others scenes are more goofy and uninventive. Confession of Murder also has a lot of unfunny, juvenile potty humor. Gets intriguing with the hour mark twist, but it 's still overblown.
Aside from a baffling car chase at the midpoint that tries to recreate something like the freeway sequence from "The Matrix Reloaded" through a mix of glaring green screen, practical stuntwork, and what looks like GoPro footage - "Confession of Murder" is a compelling blend of action, suspense, and frequent narrative twists. Imagine the "Death Note" movies with a Judo belt and you'll have something of an idea.
