Not as much heart or soul as the original Icelandic version - though, as far as remakes go this is watchable. Wahlberg and Ribisi are good in their roles, the rest of the cast are forgettable - especially Caleb Landry Jones, who is exceptionally cringe-worthy in every role. A talented director remaking his own work in Hollywood? Tiresome. Thankfully, there's a quick pace and grit galore, despite the plot holes.
... and a half. Suspenseful and nightmarish plot... Most ratings here seem to dislike the film for reasons that are non-cinematic: Wahlberg's persona, the fact that this is a remake etc. I didn't know anything about it, saw it and enjoyed it. Why expect logic in a B-movie like that?
