Ratings & Reviews

  1. film_lies101's rating of the film Cub

Three stars for Steve Moore's score & the cinematography. Plus, the kids were proper little assholes even Sam (okay maybe not glasses kid, though the motherfucker was a snitch)

  2. Dogukan4Ever's rating of the film Cub

  3. Nick Schwab's rating of the film Cub

Could've been so much better. The photography genuinely produces atmosphere and the synthesizer score is so greatly 80's, but Cub doesn't smartly homage the slasher films of that era but falls into the bad cliches of its lesser films. The thrills and horror are generic, and characterization and emotion are dull. The climax gets some chuckles, as does the odd twist, but by then you're surely already zoning out.

  4. msmichel's rating of the film Cub

Govaerts debut feature shows some promise but is far too derivative too really make much of an impact. Wearing its 'Lord of the Flies' and 'Friday the 13th' influence on its sleeves the script really has nowhere to go. One can't fault young Maurice Luijten who does make a favourable impression as Sam. Did like the double tree takedown though.

  5. Diego Carrera's rating of the film Cub

Too many annoying characters for just one faltering screenplay.

  6. Pymo's rating of the film Cub

  7. Palmat's rating of the film Cub

Despite solid production values and a good score this sub-slasher flick fails to stir any kind of response. The acting is decent and passes the bar but it is the script that makes the whole movie falter. After a good first reel it becomes apparent that the writers have nothing to contribute but to recycle old story beats from way better movies. And the villain and the ending just feels stupid.

  8. rllr's rating of the film Cub

Another watered down version - of a watered down version - of A Bay Of Blood. I guess it still deserves a pet on the back for trying to be the most ballsy Belgian mainstream production in some time, but real horror fans will be shrugging away at the Goblin hints while shouting the number of correct Friday The 13th sequel which the scenes are mostly lifted from.

  9. Paolo Simeone's rating of the film Cub

It tries hard to hit you in the guts and it happens to succeed.

  10. Fırat Ataç's rating of the film Cub

...Anyway it is unquestionably good looking film.

  11. Carlos Filipe Freitas's rating of the film Cub

It’s all depicted with a stirring madness, but ultimately, “Cub” becomes corrupted by its own naivety and inconsistencies.
