Awful but crazy, clogged with references to old movies and interpolated collages, featuring some dreadful exercises in sunshine pop by Barry Mann and Cynthia Weil, “Cult of the Damned” is meant to be a social satire, if not a statement. It is that, albeit less a movie than a symptom.
