It's quite a challenge to get past the fact that Astaire was more than 30 years older than Caron (just like in Funny Face)... But everything else is quite enjoyable! The color (cinemascope) is amazing. The dance sequences are great... even though they did remind me - a lot - of An American in Paris.
Elaborates the erotic equivalent of financial capital, investing from afar for a return: the sugar daddy. Though the non-musical bits are fairly interesting (and the Astaire solos near-great) includes, in one of the extended dull-as-ditchwater "ballet" "fantasias", the proto-twerk. (But alas, the cozying up of France to America did not outlive the Marshall plan for long)
