  2. $ROBINROSA$'s rating of the film Dark Night, Calcutta

An exercise on the disjunction of the image and the voice. Two territories very different from each other the image/territory is lived and experienced (Cabourg) the other the mind/territory (Calcutta) searched and impossible to reach. The two come together, they meet but they don't see each other, there is an impossibility. There is an incompatibility that makes any effort futile. Isolation.

  3. El Biffo's rating of the film Dark Night, Calcutta

Eloquent black and white photography. Story by Marguerite Duras. I really like this filmmaker a lot, especially Sept Jours Ailleurs (1969), which isn't in the Mubi database yet. I give that one 5 stars and heartily recommend to Nouvelle Vague fans.
