Ratings & Reviews

  1. João R's rating of the film Darling

It has an amazing artistic sense, but its conclusion is foreseen in the first minutes of the movie.

  2. elenagallen's rating of the film Darling

What would have been a decent short makes a tedious film.

  3. Morris Bros.'s rating of the film Darling

  4. sissy69's rating of the film Darling

Good score and lighting, but the visuals felt kinna. . . stupid! Nothing new, which explains the amount of comparisons this gets to so many horror films that have come before it. . . Attractive, but nothing to text mama about. . .

  5. Shelley's rating of the film Darling

Tries very hard to be somewhere in between Repulsion and The Sentinel, yet not really succeeding at anything due to the complete lack of substance.

  6. Frank ViSo's rating of the film Darling

  7. Mathias Palmberg's rating of the film Darling

A really good movie that is more a stylistic exercise than anything else. Photo, sound and music is absolutely stellar and Ashley´s performance is spot on. Plot wise things are more than thin and Keating poses more questions than he provides answers. And yes, this is Repulsion/The Tenant all over again but Keating stages everything with such flair and conviction that it does not affect the movie one bit. Great!

  9. msmichel's rating of the film Darling

Every now and then a horror film comes along that makes one appreciate the genre all the more. Earlier this year 'The witch' filled that role and this fine film from Mickey Keating does the same to a lesser degree despite its obvious influences. It is too easy to write this off as a Polanski/Kubrick/Ferrara ripoff and instead one should appreciate the care in its creation even if just for the performance of Ashley.

  11. Laurs Kemp's rating of the film Darling

    Just watch Repulsion instead.

Polanksi vibes especially inspired by repulsion fav quote: abyssus invocat abyssum

  13. dave gunn's rating of the film Darling

Despite an almost blatant nod to Repulsion and The Shining, this wound up being quite unique. Unsettling and cold, shot in a beautiful black and white perfectly complemented by a set and wardrobe of stark blacks and whites, this is just as much a series of great photographs as it is a genuinely great psychological horror.

  14. Monasteries's rating of the film Darling

Pretty cinematography and editing was great in places but then there was also something very bad about the performances or the content or the homages that killed my interest.

  16. Nick Schwab's rating of the film Darling

A step back after Pod for Keating, a prolific young horror director that still holds a lot of promise. Despite the beautiful b&w photography and the strong performance from Lauren Ashley Carter, Darling-- unlike Repulsion-- doesn't really grab the viewer as often as it should since Keating can't keep things scary whenever Carter is solo, relying on flashy techniques more than genuine mood and creeping dread.

  17. Henri de Corinth's rating of the film Darling

Polanski's apartment trio (and Ms. 45, Diabolique, Manhattan, Alphaville...) for the twee set. Seems more like a cloying game of Spot the Movie Reference than an actual narrative film. There's a fine line between homage and plagiarism.

  18. Luis Pires's rating of the film Darling

Repulsion meets A Girl Walks Home Alone At Night.

  19. Taufiq Hariyadi's rating of the film Darling

Noir flashing images never gets me upset
