Here a perpetually sweaty Don Johnson plays a burnt out, alcoholic L.A. cop with maxed out credit cards and an ex-wife who doesn't want him coming within a hundred yards of their small children. In this sleazy and cliche-ridden Eighties action flick, he's also our country's only hope at stopping a vastly growing and heavily armed network of white supremacists. Yeah...sounds like morning in America.
Armed with a flashlight and a bad attitude, Don Johnson kicks scumbag ass in this cheesy 80s action movie that crashes through every cliche in the book with tremendously entertaining gusto, thanks in large part to Johnson's all-out performance and Frankenheimer's sure-handed direction. The script is pretty hokey, but it's fast-paced and surprisingly well-crafted for this kind of movie.
