Ratings & Reviews

  1. Lights in the Dusk's rating of the film Deadly Blessing

Compromised by studio interference; its heroines styled & posed like lingerie models; its ending, laden with special effects & supernatural threat, at odds with the film's sombre, more psychological tone. But it still works. The characters are appealing; the set-pieces tense & inventive. Craven makes good use of his isolated setting & there's a strong narrative through-line about outsiders; people shamed & displaced.

  2. Louis Léonard's rating of the film Deadly Blessing

  3. Rocco's rating of the film Deadly Blessing

A couple good ideas and some nice work from the cast, but overall a real slog. The ending really fucks it all to hell.

  4. film_lies101's rating of the film Deadly Blessing

Pacing is a bit slow at times, also it looks like it was shot for television. Borgnine and Stone are great and the story isn't all that bad, I actually prefer this over 'Witness'

  5. Jp Diaz's rating of the film Deadly Blessing

    wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeew!

  6. Shelley's rating of the film Deadly Blessing

The only saving grace of this film is the insult "You are a stench in God's nostrils."

  7. Nick Schwab's rating of the film Deadly Blessing

Rather schlocky in conceit and often dull, Deadly Blessing is saved by the genre-savvy cast that often brings a sense of credence to their hammy, melodramatic characters. Never quite gets into a fever pitch or becomes intriguing, as it often feels like a TV film in its low flair approach, yet is worth a watch for this adequate emotional core. The final 20 minutes is action-packed, but doesn't gel together storywise.

  8. davehalb's rating of the film Deadly Blessing

Borgnine gloriously hams it up as a fire-and-brimstone Amish patriarch while Craven weaves an intriguing and occasionally frightening little film.
