Just, like, 2 rewrites away from the classic it might have been. Never quite leans in far enough - to B-movie lite design, camp scenery spitting or LA showbiz satire. Out of the gate like the most bonkers baby of All About Eve and Frankenstein, then a series of missteps culminating in the biggest, Willis as lead. Streep has never sleeked like this, tone and pacing just as slippery.
DEATH BECOMES HER is a unique movie. Director Robert Zemeckis put a satire about an aging Hollywood actress and a writer. How they tried so hard to keep young and beautiful. DEATH BECOMES HER is also a dark comedy about how beauty does matter. I must admit this movie has an interesting storyline. I think this movie is lacks of focus. It looks like Zemeckis wants to include everything in one movie. It's worth watching
Comedy. Fantasy. Slapstick. Cartoon. Science-Fiction. Satire. Absurdity. Jealousy. Revenge. Obsession. Desire: Youth & Beauty & eternal Life. This is far too much for one movie. It's like: too many cooks spoil the broth. Bottom-line: for me it is an unfunny comedy although a star-ensemble at work. Pity.
