  1. Luca Soldati's rating of the film Death Sentence

  3. J.J. 'Jake' Gittes's rating of the film Death Sentence

For me this is an adaption of 'Death Wish' from 1974 with Charles Bronson. Kevin Bacon is doing fine but couldn't achieve the presence of Bronson. Overall solid, entertaining.

  4. Zach Closs's rating of the film Death Sentence

Overwrought but often inspired no-frills vigilante thriller. James Wan has a real gift for elevating simple, nasty, real-world setups to ridiculously operatic heights. Much of the drama rests squarely on Kevin Bacon's shoulders; what could've been a one-note, one-liner-murmuring turn is instead a very complete transformation from fidgety accountant to cold-blooded avenger. I am a sucker for shit like this, but still.

  5. Mathias Palmberg's rating of the film Death Sentence

Pretty good revenge yarn with Bacon on fine form and watchable as ever. The support cast is also decent as is the script. The direction and production design could have used alot more attention to really bring this home.

  7. Christopher Morgan's rating of the film Death Sentence

This movie fails at the emotional parts with its forced soundtrack but nails it's action scenes. Sure, you have to suspend disbelief that these gangsters have such bad aim but other than that it's got really smart action sequences. You can see the seeds of ideas being planted for fast and furious 7. Baco-bits has a great performance and looks badass at the end. Goodman and the main villain play their part well.

  9. Nelson Núñez's rating of the film Death Sentence

Una película de venganza algo torpe y vulgar en su desarrollo dramático y construcción de personajes. Rescataría la potencia de sus escenas de acción (especialmente el plano secuencia de la persecución en el estacionamiento)

  10. Aaron Dillenbeck's rating of the film Death Sentence

Underrated action/ revenge film performed well enough to make the viewer want Nick to succeed. Nothing new here but better than it was received.

  11. Evan Schafer's rating of the film Death Sentence

Quite simply, one of the best action films in the revenge plot structure I have ever seen. I liken Kevin Bacon's transformation from a loving, hardworking father into a hardened, gang-like criminal to De Niro's breakdown in Taxi Driver. It is a striking, winning performance that deserves attention. Certainly tastes of "Saw" here, with camera angles recalling those films, as well as the ticking clock feel. Excellent.

  15. pivic's rating of the film Death Sentence

Loads of violence, not much sense; fair enough at times, but pretty drab in this film. The best bit about this film is, to me, bits of Bacon's acting when he faces reality as he goes from being wronged to becoming a wrong-doer himself.

  16. yuriwalker's rating of the film Death Sentence

Revenge is a dish best served with Kevin Bacon Dick.

  17. Matt's rating of the film Death Sentence

John Goodman had the best dialogue

  18. vordven's rating of the film Death Sentence

  19. Christopher R. Smith's rating of the film Death Sentence

Starts out a mediocre crime drama before becoming an action movie that stretches credibility at every turn. The emotional moments were forced and obvious, and the action scenes bordered on the rediculous - all of it shot with some annoying, shaky handheld photography. Kevin Bacon actually gives a strong, naturalistic performance that's probably better than the movie deserves.
