Shortly after getting married to Thérèse, a young alpine farmer, Antoine, goes mountain climbing with his uncle Séraphin. There is an avalanche and it is believed that the two men perished in the violent rock fall.

The initial helicopter travelling takes us to the geography/geology that are the strong motives of this film, and that in the frames always gives a historical dimension of a before-the-time (the diegetic and ours, of spectators), a physicality. But the staging options, luxurious and demonstrative, in a bourgeois emphasis of giving-to-feel, impale the geology and gives it a dimension of a blatant theatricality.
