What are people saying?

  • SpacePirate's rating of the film Desert Nights

Great silent, with odd pacing, probably due to the missing reel. Close to 20 mins of this film is lost, but you really wouldnt know it. Gilbert relishes laughing at danger, and Wong Howe's on location photography makes this a gritty gripping late period silent. People say Gilbert went on a downward spiral, but made some talkie classics like Downstairs, which remains one of my fav films of his, up there w/ Big Parade
