Our take

We all love Rodriguez’s gonzo lo-fi debut El Mariachi, but who can resist the offer of Hollywood to remake it with stars and beaucoup bucks? He amplified the original’s energy and violence by 10, added Antonio Banderas, Salma Hayek, and Quentin Tarantino, and put all the action into overdrive!
