Ratings & Reviews

  1. Aardsy's rating of the film Destination Moon

Will Woody Woodpecker die in space?

  2. kaan ertuz's rating of the film Destination Moon

I could not finish... It could be nice for 1950's but boring for today...

  3. Makinist Klitorist's rating of the film Destination Moon

  4. Korhan Kalabalık's rating of the film Destination Moon

  5. msmichel's rating of the film Destination Moon

One of the grandfathers in science fiction film history is this quite good story (by Robert Heinlein) concerning man's first voyage to the moon. Made almost 20 years before NASA's successful trip the film is certainly dated in both science and visual effects but must be seen in the context of its release date....at which point one must admit it is quite impressive. Oscar winner for visual effects that year.

  6. Buddy Love's rating of the film Destination Moon

Destination disappointing. Have you ever seen the Muppets Shows Pigs in Space much more worthwhile plus better special effects.

  7. raggiodisole's rating of the film Destination Moon

How far we have come, but how fertile was the imagination shown here?

  8. Bill McLaughlin's rating of the film Destination Moon

Wow. That was pretty good! This was 1950 - 7 years before Sputnik, 8 years before NASA - and this is a (mostly) serious film about a rocket jetting off to the moon...and back. Pretty decent effects for the time...which was 13 years before Ray Harryhausen's sword fighting skeletons in "Jason And The Argonauts". A reasonable amount of suspense. Fair acting and not terrible dialog. Expectations exceeded.

  9. Ahmet UJeschk's rating of the film Destination Moon

Very well science-fiction movie. It also shows us US motivation of flight to moon 20 years before.

  10. Sin título.'s rating of the film Destination Moon

  11. happyplastic's rating of the film Destination Moon

Decent enough. Co-written by Robert A.Heinlein (Starship Troopers)

  12. paul oram's rating of the film Destination Moon

Rallying call for the US race into space. Love the hand painted moonscape. Almost a public information film in the way it describes the science involved and the challenges to be faced - don't expect to see aliens. Embrace the dated effects, these 50s films shape the perception of space in the movies for the decades ahead. Orange spacesuits and the scene with astronaut silently spinning in space reminded me of Kubrik.

  13. Amadeus Magnus's rating of the film Destination Moon

Just waste of time, we already have Lang's Woman in the Moon and the Tintin story. The only good thing is the scientific documentary about the moon trip with the presenter: Woody Woodpecker. Worst thing is, unfortunately, visual effect technology.
