Calling Detroit 9000 a blaxploitation flick seems too easy. Sure, it looks, sounds and for the most part even feels like one but its commentary on race & race relations tries its damnedest to let its audience know its more than its contemporaries. If that's too heavy for you, its still a fun watch with plenty of old-timey racism (Alex Rocco's wife alone!) and goofy editing. Decent twist at the end, too.
