Ratings & Reviews

  1. FISCHER's rating of the film Diary of a Hooker

    C'est médiocre et navrant à la fois ! www.cinefiches.com

  2. Henri de Corinth's rating of the film Diary of a Hooker

Rewatch. Not great but it compliments Belle de jour in some ways -Severine is moneyed and polite, Greet is boorish and working class. Bunuel spins sex fantasies, Verhoeven portrays their construction.

  3. Paolo Simeone's rating of the film Diary of a Hooker

Nederland in the 70s. That's already enough.

  4. J. Pomp's rating of the film Diary of a Hooker

A legitimately excellent movie. It's easy to see why people wouldn't like it. The protagonist doesn't change. Prostitution is portrayed as a perfectly acceptable, even fun profession. There is no "moral" to the story. But it's hard to imagine how someone couldn't love it. Nonstop laughs. Characters with eccentricities worthy of Herzog.

  5. Christopher R. Smith's rating of the film Diary of a Hooker

Director Paul Verhoeven's feature debut is a raucous, ribald comedy strong on quirky (but also deep) characters, built around a shining central performance from Ronnie Bierman. Stylishly and energetically shot, for all its bawdy humor, an exceedingly charming film.
