  1. Matt Richards's rating of the film Dirty Pictures

What should have been a fascinating doco on the godfather of psychedelic chemistry and his ongoing lifes-work exploring, testing and documenting chemical variants sits way too close to the surface. There are some truly profound observations but little revealed as to the motivation of such an interesting character. 2.5 stars

  2. Matthew Martens's rating of the film Dirty Pictures

As shaggy and disheveled as its Cheshire subject, this damn likable look at rogue chemist Sasha Shulgin's psychedelic life does an admirable job of recruiting supporting players to sketch out the broader story, from the exciting, moving, still inchoate business of exploiting the therapeutic potential of these compounds to the frustratingly persistent insipidity of post-'60s psychonautic culture. Ann anchors it all.
