Ricardo was a somewhat important figure in brazilian's cinema in the 70s and 80s as an editor, but in his second film as directors, he shows us that he's stuck in that timeframe. Djalioh feels like a filmed audiobook (it's a short story by Flaubert) but it is just not interesting enough (and it doesn't have enough to say to the audience) for anyone to really give a damn.
