  1. Andy King's rating of the film Doctor Zhivago

Weak beginning but picks up pace. The last few episodes are very difficult to watch as much as it is hard to read the novel (the series goes from youthful recital of poetry over champagne to the murder of babies during a period of brutal starvation) — Zhivago is a metaphor for the Russian people before and after the Civil War, in the beginning he is naively hopeful, in the end broken and bitter. 3.5
