DOPAMINE

As Natalia’s father was diagnosed with Parkinson’s—in which the brain stops producing dopamine, responsible for movement and happiness—she was coming out to her parents. She could not understand why, if they had been left-wing militants fighting for equality, they could not accept her choice.

A series of roving intergenerational conversations unfold between the director and her family as they tackle what it means to live a radical life. Activism, sex, desire and sickness: no topic is off the cards as they poignantly confront both the shadows of their past and their uncertain future.
