What are people saying?

  • Brotherdeacon's rating of the film Double Harness

Director John Cromwell delivered the goods: bright, economical, charming & witty with a production value of silky gowns and top hats each fit to a T, while the re-used, re-dressed sets work perfectly. Double Harness (1936) is a suave, sexually implied romantic romp cascading from a great era in American films. Ann Harding exudes unalloyed confidence with the dreamy guy in the tux, mustache and penthouse elan.

  • SpacePirate's rating of the film Double Harness

Another solid vehicle for Powell, who seemingly could do no wrong in the 30s. Must have had a great agent. Billed as a comedy, its more of a social commentary on gold diggers during the depression, which makes it quite an interesting piece. Well executed, and unfortunately as I understand from other sites was unseen for many years. Thankfully its been given new life. A great way to spend little over an hour. Solid 4
