Ratings & Reviews

  1. VincentVendetta's rating of the film Drifting States

And so Denis Côté killed the old Quebec cinema stuck on life support so it could be reborn, going back to its origins and yet ushering a new wave of filmmakers. It may look and sound like shit compared to the expensive traditionalism and the superficial metropolitan cinema that came before, I wouldn't have it any other way.

  2. Nachtreich's rating of the film Drifting States

    Ehilà. ☆ e mezzo. Certe volte ☆☆.

  3. Il secondo maestro del revolver's rating of the film Drifting States

  4. Ludovica's rating of the film Drifting States

  5. CarlosEsquives's rating of the film Drifting States

  6. Carlo Benedicti's rating of the film Drifting States

Movie on loneliness of ultimate ethic choices. Every second felt as the last one.

  7. Charlie's rating of the film Drifting States

It was too slow for me and I got bored.

  8. Venus Rey Jr's rating of the film Drifting States

  9. paul oram's rating of the film Drifting States

So, Canada. Who'd of thought it. Not just the Indigenous peoples having a hard time of it up there. More of this guy please MUBI.

  10. msmichel's rating of the film Drifting States

Cote's directorial debut owes a fair amount to the heritage of 'direct cinema' from Quebecois filmmakers like Lefebvre, Brault and Perrault. The film itself lies along a fine line of existential and docu-drama. The genesis of what we have seen since in the work of Cote is definately on display here. The remoteness and vastness of this country is well captured with a rare view of northern Quebec and the James Bay area.

  11. klofter's rating of the film Drifting States

Really enjoyed this one. Subdued but intense and powerful, this one leaves an indelible mark long after the last devastating shot. Excellent!

  12. chanandre's rating of the film Drifting States

Pillow choking is THE costume du rigeur huh?

  13. Pál's rating of the film Drifting States

The feeling of an étude taken into account, it was quite nicely put together, I guess the most important part being to have found and explored the location. Even before arriving to Radisson, an appalling ambiance was created with the machine beeping with the mother's heartbeat. The classroom scenes were unexpected. All in all, it was interesting as an experiment.

  14. Samuel Dupont-Foisy's rating of the film Drifting States

Un excellent film québécois, à voir absolument.

  15. Eloi MV's rating of the film Drifting States
