Ratings & Reviews

  1. Warren Spratley's rating of the film Drive a Crooked Road

Sallitt notes that Rooney gives one of THE great performances, a kind of ESTHER KAHN sense of documenting the strange amalgamation of actor & character. This is quite right. Further, as Joe McElhaney notes, Quine has a particularly compassionate, modern, meditative grasp of space. The central performance & the mise en scene together generate--simultaneously--a sense of serenity as well as a one of utter devastation.

  2. Dave's rating of the film Drive a Crooked Road

An relatively unknown gem of a film noir. Mickey Rooney is great as the hapless fall guy and the robbery sequence with Rooney at the wheel is very well-done.

  3. Daniel S.'s rating of the film Drive a Crooked Road

Written by Blake Edwards. Great car sequences and Dianne Foster’s sex-appeal. Recommended.
