Michael Rowe (Leap Year) misses the mark on this outing with a tale of a slowly disintegrating marriage set in Montreal. Miscasting of Suzanne Clement as a Russian immigrant English speaking wife of a rest home maintenance man is the main downfall. Paul Doucet is memorable as the husband but the film's story trajectory is both predictable and somewhat numbing.
Fantastic. This is incredibly honest and powerful film-making. The direction and cinematography are perfectly married in a way that allows information to be gradually teased as the story progresses. Superb performances all round and what is often heartbreaking to watch becomes simultaneously cathartic and vindicating by the end. 5 stars
