A real cornucopia for an action fan, this movie just about has it all between shootouts, martial arts and machete fights but non of it is repetitive as each sequence seems to have some new innovation (characters using leaves to kill each other? Badass). The dynamics of the group becoming a team is established almost exclusively through the action sequences giving the movie a real Hawksian quality. An absolute blast.
For this ultra-violent Hong Kong action flick, Sammo Hung lost a bit of weight and chopped off his famous bowl cut. Sammo plays this one for real and as a result it's one of the best films of his career. Most of the action is of the machine gun-toting variety until the kung fu climax in which Sammo Hung and Yuen Biao take on Yuen Wah, the male landlord from "Kung Fu Hustle." It's a showstopping finale.
