Sure the tunes are catchy as fuck, but no one, and I mean no one really trusts Joey Pants with those tapes. So when he gets them, everyone is like, "well you clearly didn't know how to end this picture, and you clearly expect your audience to just forgive a guy who's been shady from the start. Bullshit!"
Faintly inspired by the story around the making of The Beach Boys's PET SOUNDS album, the film is interesting and leaves an agreeable nostalgic aftertaste in your head (at least, to those of us born before 1960). The whole thing nonetheless remains rather light because Eddie wasn't James Dean, Bob Dylan nor Lady Gaga. Recommended.
