Now this is how you make a great crowd-pleaser. Sure it's a cliched, formulated, based on a true story film that fudges the facts and holds almost no surprises BUT GOD DAMN what a fun film! Eddie soars due to it's beautiful cinematography, period aethestics, sense of humor, and committed performances. This feels at home with Mathew Vaughn's other creations - in other words fun, exuberant, and always creative.
A fun feelgood movie with likeable leads and swift direction. Scriptwise I´m not sure how much truth regarding Edwards we actually get but as fiction is works well within the confines of its´ genre. And Jackman is great as always and its fun to see him play second fiddle with such charisma and ease. Plus points for Walken´s grizzled cameo which brought both heft and gravitas. Worth a look for sure!
