This was a film I was looking forward to seeing. The Pre-Raphaelite period and John Ruskins part in it,interests me.Unfortunately, this was quickly passed over and we concentrated (not surprisingly) on Ruskins unconsummated marriage to the young Effie Gray. The film looks great, but we never found out the full reason why this man,who believed in the truth of art and beauty, was so abhorred by his wifes naked body.
A fascinating film on the beautful young wife of the art critic John Ruskin who was taken from her family in Scotland to live amidst the overpowing parents of Ruskin who doted on him and disliked the intrusion by the young Effie. He was unable to really develop a relationship with her and ultimately he was repulsed by he. One of her few moments of happiness was when they were joined by Millais.
