The technique is great. It reminded me of The Passion of Joan of Arc, not only for the time setting, but for the blocking and cinematography. The performances are hindered by incredibly literary dialogue. It may have something to do with the medieval setting, but also the fact that it's based on a play. The story itself is good. I just need time to see how it compares to other Mexican films.
