Rewatch. Saw this one a lot growing up. It’s dumb, it’s cute. I like it. My childhood crush on Gina Madsen began here (and with Dune from the same year). Watching it again, it seems ahead of its time in its depiction of the Nerd Fantasy/MPDG™ -a trope that is terrible in almost all cases but seems harmless here. It would be difficult to genuinely dislike this film.
(Tentado a darle ****). 80♥
I was surprised at how good this was! The premise is preposterous but once disbelief has been suitably suspended it works pretty well, and both the leads are great. There are shades of Cyrano de Bergerac, Frankenstein and Phantom of the Opera in the story which despite essentially being a sci-fi rom-com sometimes nudges gently at the outskirts of the horror genre.
