Epilogue Directed by Marlen Khutsiyev

What are people saying?

  • José Neves's rating of the film Epilogue

The beginning and end are extraordinary for its unique invention of a metaphysical poetic, using articulated images in a dialectical discourse, especially the initial sequence, where 3 narrative times are shuffled into one, a discursive time. However, his "core" is a nice parable about age, as friendly as unproductive.

  • Karl J. Kipling's rating of the film Epilogue

One of those nothing-happens-but-everything-happens: two characters in an apartment, they talk past and around each other, the bitter but rich twentieth century the old fellow's lived through that the young one can't understand. Creates mysteries and riddles it leaves unanswered in its final wordless scenes, vacant and forlorn as an Antonioni, when the strange import of a seemingly trivial encounter begins to dawn.
