Ratings & Reviews

  1. Ethan's rating of the film Equinox

This is good campy fun and a nice little precursor to The Evil Dead.

  2. Alexander Dunkelberger's rating of the film Equinox

Cool special effects. Other than that, another terrible B movie. I like the style of this one. It’s probably worse than the criterion “Monsters and Madmen” films though.

  3. Christopher M. Jones's rating of the film Equinox

Criterion Collection sometimes has excellent taste in schlock. This is...not one of those times. Some dope sub-Harryhausen monster SFX and a surprisingly unsettling ending are the only things that keep it from being a total wash

  4. narwhal44123's rating of the film Equinox

If you don't where a cross, you're gonna get got. 1.7

  5. Kelvin Thompson's rating of the film Equinox

The howlingly bad Twilight Zone-ish escapades of four dipshits in the woods.

  6. CarlosEsquives's rating of the film Equinox

  7. W's rating of the film Equinox

    Looks awesome. Awesomely cheesy.

  8. Genre films > French New Wave's rating of the film Equinox

It has all the fun and pitfalls that come with a low budget film, but the stop motion is really good. On a side note, it is interesting to know that Dennis Muren (responsible for visual effects on Terminator 2 and Jurassic Park) cut his teeth on this movie, serving as nice inspiration to us younger filmmakers.

  9. AKFilmFan's rating of the film Equinox

Not great, but the meshing of old sci-fi to contemporary setting with a big Scooby Doo feel is nice. Like what Super 8's movie-in-a-movie did but in real life.

  10. Erik Gregersen's rating of the film Equinox

Has its great moments, but they are only moments. Surprised MST3K never got its hands on it.

  11. MarcH's rating of the film Equinox

After years of B horror movies with men in ape suits and a space helmet on their head, actors wrapping giant octopus tentacles around themselves, or go-go girls drenched in animal entrails, this was a return to pure form for the genre...a sort of drive-in schlock version of Jason & The Argonauts meets Curse of The Demon. The Criterion print looks amazing.

  12. Hunter Duesing's rating of the film Equinox

Not a great movie by any means, but its DIY spirit is one that should be inspiring to all filmmakers.

  13. Crap Monster's rating of the film Equinox

Interesting stepping stone in the history of special effects, but otherwise horrendously bad that borders on being pure camp.

  14. Christopher R. Smith's rating of the film Equinox

It does have a certain can-do attitude about it, considering it's obviously dismal budget; and some of the plot elements are ahead of its time. But I've never really understood why some consider this something special, other than some particularly scrappy B-movie cheese.
