Ratings & Reviews

  1. Graf von Zahl's rating of the film Ethel & Ernest

I'm not a fan on British animation but this is really beautiful and touching. Perhaps because of it's simplicity.

  2. A.B. II: The Return's rating of the film Ethel & Ernest

In the grand scope of cinema, this film travels a lot of ground that's been heavily covered by now (from Noël Coward to Ken Loach). But, it ultimately succeeds in the same way that Linklater's "Boyhood" succeeds: it gives you honest snapshots of the various periods, anchored by characters that (while not especially deep) feel completely real and relatable. Plus, it's just so irresistibly charming.

Mawkish attempt at self-mythologizing for Brexit Britain.
