Mad scientists and the Faust myth are brilliantly evoked in this chilling and prescient vision from Polish auteur Krzysztof Zanussi. A dark and engrossing WWI tale of battlefield experimentation and intellectual hubris, Ether is a prescient entry into the filmmaker’s late oeuvre.
